Happy New Year, everyone!!!! I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while. We took some time off and visited family/friends in the Pacific Northwest. I've also been dealing with some chronic health issues that have taken more of my time than usual. We are back to it and making progress slowly, but surely:)
Matt will be returning to the work world in the next few weeks, and I will primarily be working on the property by myself. While I'm super excited for him, it's a bit daunting thinking of all of the work I have to do now. I know it will be fine, but it does create a bit of anxiety. I've been trying to look at it from more of a positive outlook. This is an opportunity for me to grow my skills and not rely on anyone. Not everyone gets a chance for personal growth like this. Plus, Matt's schedule will allow him to give me advice in the evenings:) Stay tuned for updates on changes to our opening timeline, etc. There will be a lot of learning opportunities along the way which will hopefully make me stronger and won't break me lol. My amazing hair stylist reminded me yesterday that I am my own boss and I can do whatever makes sense to me. I know that seems like a very basic statement, but it helped me so much. It's amazing how having the right person at the right time can make all the difference. The longer we live in Vermont, the more this seems to happen. Whether it is a random person waving and saying "Hi" to me, or someone taking time out of their day to help me with a basic question, I truly feel that we have found our home in Vermont.

Enough about me:) Let's talk about the property! There hasn't been a lot of big changes with our rooms. Unfortunately, we have been doing a lot of the necessary, but not fun renovations. I'm hoping to have some nice before and after photos in the next two weeks. However, we have been experiencing some of our first winter weather, and I've started to learn how to plow!!! I'm not gonna lie, it is very empowering to push huge chunks of snow around:) Plus it's been helping me to feel more comfortable with my snow driving. I've always been pretty nervous driving in the snow. Most of the places I have lived have been really steep hills with very little plowing. We now live on a main artery road so there are plows going day and night. It makes all the difference!

We survived our first Nor'easter last week. Basically, it was a lot of wind and a lot of snow. Thankfully, we didn't have any lasting damage on our property, but there were a bunch of trees down to the south of us. So far, we have been very lucky since we have been here. There have been multiple storms in the last six months and each time we have gotten away without damage. It sounds like we are in for some more snow and wind within the next few days too. Never a dull moment around here.

Love the pattern the wind created with the blowing snow.
Matt and I have been putting some finishing touches on the big cottage, and I have started some of the freshening up paint in the apartment. So much painting! It's going to be fun freshening up a new space. We are slowly making this place our own. Stay safe everyone and don't forget to rest:)

Hey Elizabeth! Congratulations on the next turn in this adventure. - I'm glad you're surviving the weather. Looks like the whole nation is having some sort of incident right now, but I always assumed you'd see extreme weather every year. Keep safe. Keep warm. Give everyone hugs. Spring is on its way. - jh
